After signing

What the signer sees on completion

After a signer submits their fields, they see a confirmation screen that:

  • Confirms their signature was received
  • Shows the envelope title and sender name
  • Displays the date and time of completion
  • Explains what happens next (e.g. "Waiting for one more signer" or "All parties have signed — a copy has been sent to your email")

The signer does not need to do anything further. They can close the browser tab.

The completed document email

Once all signers have completed, Permissio sends a copy of the fully signed PDF to every participant — all signers and the envelope sender — by email. The email contains:

  • A confirmation message
  • The signed PDF as an attachment
  • A summary of who signed and when

Signers do not need a Permissio account to receive or open this email. The PDF is a standard file they can save, print, or forward.

What signers can access afterwards

Signers receive their completed copy by email at the time of completion. There is no ongoing portal or account for signers — they cannot log in to retrieve past documents. If a signer loses their copy, you can re-download the signed PDF from your Permissio account and send it to them directly.

The audit trail

The completed PDF includes an audit certificate as its final page. This records:

  • Envelope ID
  • Sender name and account
  • Document title
  • Each signer's name, email address, IP address at time of signing, and completion timestamp

The audit certificate is generated and appended by Permissio and cannot be altered. It provides a tamper-evident record of the signing event suitable for legal and compliance purposes.

Re-opening or modifying a completed envelope

Completed envelopes are locked. The document and signatures cannot be changed. If you need new signatures on a modified document, create a new envelope.
