Place signing fields
After adding signers, place the fields each person needs to complete before their signature is accepted.
Opening the field editor
The field editor opens automatically after you finish adding signers. It shows a full-page preview of your document with a field palette on the left.
Field types
| Field | What it captures |
|---|---|
| Signature | The signer's drawn or typed signature |
| Initials | A smaller version of the signature, typically used per-page |
| Date signed | Auto-filled with the date the signer completes the envelope |
| Full name | The signer's typed full name |
| Text | Free-form text input (job title, address, custom value) |
| Checkbox | A yes/no checkbox |
Adding a field
- In the left palette, select the signer this field belongs to using the signer dropdown (colour-coded per person).
- Click the field type you want to add.
- Click on the document where you want the field placed. A field box appears at that location.
- Drag the field to fine-tune position, or drag the corners to resize.
Required vs optional fields
Every field is required by default — the signer cannot submit until they have filled it in. To make a field optional, click the field to select it and toggle Required off in the field properties panel.
Assigning fields to the right signer
In the left palette, the active signer is highlighted. Every field you place goes to that signer. To place a field for a different signer, switch the active signer in the dropdown first — each signer's fields are colour-coded in the document preview so you can see at a glance who is responsible for what.
Removing a field
Click a field to select it, then press Delete or click the × that appears on the field. You can also right-click a field for options.
Navigating multi-page documents
Use the page thumbnails in the right panel or the ← → arrows at the bottom of the preview to move between pages. You can place fields on any page.
