Signer identity

By default, signers are identified by the email address you supplied. Permissio sends the signing link to that inbox; possession of the link is treated as proof of identity.

Production accounts can configure stronger proofs:

• SMS one-time code delivered to a phone number you provide on the signer.
• Knowledge-based authentication (KBA) — a US-only quiz against public records.
• Government ID upload with optional liveness check.

Identity options are configured at the account level in the dashboard. Once configured, they apply to every signer of every production envelope.
