Create an API key

Sign in to the Permissio dashboard and open Settings → API keys. Create a new key scoped to the Sandbox environment.

A sandbox key looks like sk_test_…. A production key looks like sk_live_…. Treat both as secrets; they grant full account access.

Test keys never bill

Sandbox keys cannot move money or send live notifications to production signers, and they do not count against production rate limits.

Store the key in your secret manager. The dashboard shows the key value once at creation; rotate it if you lose track of it.
